Folks looking to increase access and equity to cycling can support our mission in a number of ways:
Volunteer your time! No experience required, and we will show you everything you need to know to help us do the work we do. We hold volunteer or orientations on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 PM.
Visit our thrift shop! Every dollar you spend in our thrift shop goes to support our programs and services.
Take a class! We offer bike basics as well as an intensive tuneup class. More information can be found in the learning tab on our website.
Donate! You can either donate bicycles, accessories, and anything bike shaped or bike related, or you can donate money. We are at 501 C3 nonprofit organization and all your donations are tax deductible.
In the summer months, we offer a number of scenic bicycle tours around the flats and along the towpath trail with our friends at Canalway partners. Depending on availability, we can also sometimes offer private tours for your group or Staff.
The Ohio city bicycle co-op offers a very popular and well attended learn to ride class throughout the spring and summer months. 70% of students are balancing and peddling their own bicycles by the end of this one hour class. Information can be found in the learning tab on our website.
The Ohio city bicycle co-op also offers a very popular trade up program for youth bicycles. Kids grow so fast! We know how frustrating that can be, so all youth bicycles purchased from us (up to bicycles with 24 inch wheels) that are well maintained, and taken care of can be "traded up"to their next bicycle once they grow out of their current bicycle. We will give you half of what you paid on your current bicycle purchased from us, towards the next one!
We are situated in the Cleveland Flats, equally between the Centennial trail link trailhead and Canal basin Park, which is the northern terminus of the Ohio to Erie Trail. Follow Merwin Ave. off of Columbus Road, between Sainato’s restaurant and the Columbus Road lift bridge and follow the signs to find our main entrance.
The Ohio city bicycle co-op has one wheelchair accessible entrance, during open hours Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12 to 5. During the winter months that door remains closed, but can be opened upon request.
We are not a conventional bike shop! We are a nonprofit bicycle co-op, focused on creating access and equity for necessity cyclist (and all cyclist) in the Cleveland area.
We won't fix your bike for you, but will show you how to! We do not offer any drop-off service or while you wait bicycle repairs. You can utilize our community space for five dollars an hour, where you get access to all the tools and advice you'll need to do the work yourself.
We don't have new bicycles, but we do offer fully refurbished bike shop quality bicycles at a significantly lower cost.
You can call and ask questions, or email us, but 9 times out of 10 the answer will be "come visit us!" if you're looking to do a repair, replace a part, or have a very specific request, bring the bicycle or the part you are looking to replace. It's hard to do assessments over the phone.
