Those with physical impairments that typically impact mobility and may require adaptive equipment or techniques that non-disabled people wouldn’t need.
Promote and support adaptive recreation for people with physical impairments in natural environments. Main interests are downhill skiing, waterskiing, snowboarding, kayaking and cycling.
No upcoming events at the moment. Check back later!
We are an inclusive program that uses existing outdoor recreational areas that are accessible to those with mobility impairments. There are no age limits to participation. We do require that those who participate in adaptive activities seek approval from their physician. Some of our adaptive equipment does involve weight limits for safety reasons. For example, sit skis, for those who have impaired ambulation preventing standing, have a maximum capacity of 220lbs. Those who wish to waterski must be able to tolerate their head/face to be under water for several seconds. All downhill skiers and snowboarders and cyclists must wear helmets, and water sports must wear coast guard approved life jackets (which are provided). Prior to participation a safety assessment of a persons abilities and medical conditions may be performed and if it is determined that participation poses an undue risk for that participant alternatives will be offered. Signed liability waivers are required by everyone, including volunteers.
