Recreation Club - for anyone aged 12-92 with an intellectual disability who would like to enjoy the peace of hiking on a safe trail or the autonomy of biking/trike riding in a safe biking zone without cars or crowds of typical bikers.
An all-day Saturday program for teens and adults with intellectual disabilities to hike, bike, and enjoy the outdoors. We do have 90 minutes of indoor fun, but we spend most of our time outside. We kayak 2x per year.
No upcoming events at the moment. Check back later!
Biking - We have adult trikes and bikes, and all participants have highly trained 1:1 staff people alongside the bike. We bike in a safe 150-yard flat asphalt zone that is free of vehicles and any speeding typical bikers. Hiking - Specially curated trails for those with mobility challenges. We have highly trained 1:1 staff people with participants at all times. We are used to atypical gaits and are comfortable with gait belts, walkers, and elopers. Kayaking: We partner with Cleveland Metroparks Adaptive Outdoor Recreation to host our kayaking outings.
Our facility is ADA compliant. We have an adult changing table and ADA doors. Afternoon participants must be able to transfer from standing into a vehicle with assistance. We do NOT require participants to be continent.
